Meme: Five Things You Didn’t Know About Me
January 5, 2007
My Wild and Unusual Froggy Facts
1. I’ve never caught a frog.
2. When I was in high school science lab, we made a dead frog’s legs twitch.
3. Frog’s legs were on the menu at a local restaurant, and I thought they were really tasty.
4. Frogs are reptillians, and I think all reptillians are ugly!
5. I think it’s interesting that God brought a plague of frogs upon the Egyptians. (Exodus 8:1-15) Revelation 16:13 also makes reference to frogs: “And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.” In either case, not a pretty sight!
Polly at Our Busy Family Life tagged me for this “Five things You Didn’t Know About Me” meme. Please hop on over to visit her, and then come visit me at my main blog Chrysalis. I’ve tagged several bloggers there to participate–but only if you have the time. See you soon!

This is a very funny take on the 5 things meme! Having grown up with two ponds in our front yard I love frogs and all things pond. I managed to kill at least 50 growing up as we always caught pollywogs and tried to keep them till they grew. I think I only managed to not kill one in all that.

Cool! or Warm! Depending on the external temps
I have nev-ah eaten frog legs, although Jehu says they taste like chicken. (I never get it when people say that).
I always thought that the plague of frogs was interesting because of the Egyptian frog god – Heh, or Huh.
I left the hospital one day, still weak & pretty low after health junk & (I wish I’d had a camera that day), dangling, by one leg, from the licensce plate of the first car I passed was a dead, shrivled frog! It gave me something to laugh about that day!

Heather: How cool that you grew up with a frog pond! I wouldn’t dare to touch a frog… one of the limitations of being an urban girl!
Leftcoastonlooker: I agree with Jehu… frog legs do taste like chicken! You’re right about the plague of frogs being tied to the Egyptian frog god. All of the plagues had a tie to their gods. The “one true God” was trying to make a point about his sovereignty!

I never caught a frog either – just tadpoles (is that the right word for baby frogs????)
You know – I didn’t even remember frogs in Revelation. I am glad that I am reading the NT this year – and more than once too…
Girl – I don’t have to include “froggy” stuff in my things do I? I am just finally getting around to it… Actually to be truthful – I didn’t feel like blogging the last week. The break did me some good though
. I will let you know when mine is up

eph2810: Yes, tadpoles (I think!). You can approach this Five Things You Didn’t Know About Me
Meme whatever way you want! I just used frogs as a “jumping off place” so to speak. Glad you’re feeling refreshed after a brief hiatus from blogging. :~)

You’re a frog-a-maniac! Funny way to answer this meme

BTW, I couldn’t comment on your anniversary photo, but how AWESOME you and e-daddio have a photo from your first date? Tad and I never intended to LIKE each other, let alone fall in love and get married, and there’s no picture to record our first date…we barely even remember it. I DO remember being intimidated by this “good Christian boy” because I was well into a WILD first year of college, and he was quite the departure.
God is good

Well, I certainly didn’t intend to fall in love with e-Daddio (lol) the night that photo was taken! It was a fluke that our youth leader had a camera with her. Anyhoo, now we are SO grateful to have that pic. (My husband actually had hair… and lots of it.) BTW, he was the wild one in our dynamic duo… can you tell?
I just love how you and Tad hooked up. What a perfect balancing combo.
